Mentoring programme for young adults with a history of migration aged between 17 and 23
With Fitore Muzaqi and Çağdaş Eren Yüksel
In cooperation with Cinema & Kurbelkiste
Target group: Beginners
Although one in four people in Germany has a history of migration, it is precisely these perspectives that are still neglected in German cinema. Many young people with a history of migration are barely represented in films – or only in clichéd roles. SCRIPT LAB: VISIONS IN CINEMA wants to change this and give you the opportunity to make your own perspective visible.
Because: “How can a person who has learnt to look at themselves through the eyes of others not only find their own perspective, but also express it?” – Kübra Gümüşay
As part of the mentoring programme SCRIPT LAB: VISIONS IN CINEMA, you have the chance to develop your own film ideas – together with other young people between the ages of 17 and 23 with a history of migration.
In a protected space, you will work on your ideas with writer & director Fitore Muzaqi and producer & director Çağdaş Eren Yüksel, learn the basics of screenwriting and receive creative input – without pressure, but with real support.
The kick-off event takes place in a cinematic atmosphere at the Münster Film Festival in the cinema. The group then meets regularly. At the end, you present your results in the cinema – in a small, protected setting.
You don’t need any previous experience – just curiosity, openness and a desire to tell your story.
Send us:
- 1 letter of motivation and
- 1 Description of the ideas you have in mind
Please register using the registration form below.
Please send the documents by Friday, 12 September 2025 at the latest as a PDF exclusively by email to scriptlab@filmwerkstatt-muenster.de.

Fitore Muzaqi works as a screenwriter and director between Cologne and Berlin on underdog stories. In her work for series and film projects, she deals with cultural differences, feminist issues and social inequality from a migrant perspective. In other words, many topics that revolve around criticism of capitalism and the distribution of resources. In her podcast Writer’s Statement, she talks as a host about working in the film industry to create transparency and participation.
She and her team from WDR COSMO won the CIVIS Media Prize 2022 with the documentary series Meine Narbe. Her feature film Turtle & Albion is travelling to the festival this year.

Çağdaş Eren Yüksel develops formats with social impact as a producer & showrunner. His films & series primarily bring perspectives from minority society to the big stage. He was honoured with the Grimme Prize 2025 for his latest streaming series UNCIVILIZED. His feature film Gleis11 premiered at Lichtburg Essen, Germany’s largest cinema – where all the stories belong. The documentary series Rebels is still one of the largest documentary co-productions for the ARD Mediathek. For over 10 years now, he has been creating formats for both the big screen and for streaming with his own production company. What characterises all the formats besides their political impact? All the series and films are not niche arthouse films, but low-threshold formats for a broad audience.
