The online seminar discusses the potential and feasibility of your film idea from a production perspective.

with Christine Kiauk

Date: Sun, 26.04.2026
Registration deadline: Sun, 12.04.2026
Target group: Advanced film makers with previous experience in script development or writing for film as well as initial knowledge of the film industry

The one-day online seminar Development with Christine Kiauk focuses on the targeted further development and strategic positioning of film projects. Both documentary and fictional material can be included. The seminar focuses on the question of how a promising idea can be turned into a convincing and realisable project. The focus is on critically analysing the feasibility of project ideas and examining key questions from a production perspective:

  • What makes the project unique and distinctive?
  • Why is it important to tell this story now?
  • Is the idea dramaturgically viable and how can the plot be designed even more precisely?
  • Are the characters well developed and how do they interact credibly with each other?
  • What does the package include, which creative contributions strengthen the project?
  • Which target group does the project appeal to and how can it be strategically positioned?

In the Development seminar, participants present their ideas and, together with lecturer Christine Kiauk, take a critical look at the materials and working principles they have brought with them. The external view of one’s own work is of particular importance. Only through such a distanced view is it possible to work out the full potential of a project and optimally prepare it for realisation. It enables participants to look at their projects from a new perspective, recognise weak points and work specifically on the packaging of the material. The joint discussion during the seminar helps to further emphasise the uniqueness and relevance of the stories so that the projects are not only creatively convincing, but can also be optimally positioned strategically.

Prerequisites for participation:

Participants in the online seminar DEVELOPMENT should have already concretised their own film idea and completed essential preparatory work: In addition to a coherent synopsis of the film and its logline, the central characters should also be defined and their backstories known. The authors should already know their characters and the world in which their story takes place. Initial ideas for the artistic realisation, a director’s note or an exposé are available.

In addition to registering using the form below, participants should send a PDF (max. 6 pages) containing a synopsis, logline and synopsis by e-mail to seminare@filmwerkstatt-muenster.de.
