22.07. New Film Generation: Poetry in Motion

Film workshop for children and young people — fully booked —

With Jana Nestler and Maja Pilati

THE WORKSHOP IS FULLY BOOKED

Dates: Mon, 22 July – Fri, 26 July 2024, 10 am – 3 pm
Registration deadline: Sun, 14.07.2024
Target group: Children and young people aged 10 to 14 years

In the analogue film workshop with Super 8 cameras, you will explore poems by various writers on film. The texts you select will be filmed, developed and set to music using analogue Super 8 cameras.

We ask ourselves: How can abstract texts be turned into films? How can we translate poetry into images? What is analogue film? What are Super 8 cameras and who filmed what with them? What do Super 8 films and poems have in common?

We read and discuss texts and then set off with the Super 8 cameras to collect our own images and shoot analogue films. We also create the digital film sound ourselves by recording sounds and recording texts. Using digital sound and analogue film, we produce a hybrid film together.

The film created in the seminar will have its premiere at the Schloßtheater as part of the LITFILMS – Literatur Film Festival Münster in September.

Maja Pilati is a filmmaker based in Münster and Barcelona.
