03.-07.08. New Film Generation: Transform yourselves! Metamorphoses in film.

Film workshop for children and young people

with Lejla Aliev

Dates: Mon, 03.08. – Fri, 07.08.2026, 10 am – 3 pm
Registration deadline: Sun, 19.07.2026
Target group: Children and young people aged 10 to 14 years

Shrunk all at once? Turned into a vermin? Fallen through a rabbit hole or woken up in a different time? The New Film Generation workshop “Transform yourselves!” is all about transformation. Together you will embark on a creative journey through literature and film and explore how identity can change and how transformation becomes visible.

Inspired by stories such as Franz Kafka’s “The Metamorphosis”, “Orlando” by Virginia Woolf or “Alice in Wonderland” by Lewis Carroll, you ask yourself: What does change mean? How do we recognise it? How do literature and film tell of ruptures, transitions and new beginnings? And how can we shape such processes ourselves on film?

You will develop your own script sketches from initial ideas and associations. You will experiment with the camera, sound and acting and learn about film design techniques – from perspective and montage to consciously working with time and movement. The film is shot with a digital Bolex camera, whose special visual aesthetics are reminiscent of analogue film classics.

In various roles, in front of and behind the camera, you will gain practical experience, work in a team and discover your own creative strengths. You will try your hand at directing, technology, organisation and acting, shoot your scenes and reflect on the resulting material together.

The films developed in the workshop will premiere at the LITFILMS Literatur Film Festival Münster at the Schloßtheater in September 2026. There you will present your work on the big screen and engage in dialogue with the audience.
