This one life

Experimental short film about work, body and perception – surreal journey through time in a fitness milieu.

Eu works as an aqua fitness instructor at a futuristic wellness resort. His everyday life runs mechanically between classes, anonymous encounters and endless scrolling through dating apps. One day, he discovers a hidden tunnel that leads him to a strange massage room. There he meets Selva, a mysterious masseuse who seems to know more about this place than she is letting on. As the two cautiously approach each other, Eu is caught up in a maelstrom of memories, inexplicable emotions and the feeling of being trapped in a surreal time loop. Selva warns him that if he stays here too long, he will lose his dreams. But can he escape at all?

Together they try to break the rhythm that governs their existence – the invisible system that controls their bodies and binds their souls. When Eu finally understands what is holding him captive here, he is faced with a decision: Stay and disintegrate or escape – but at what cost?

Diploma film by Max Wigger at the Kunstakademie Münster

The Filmwerkstatt Münster supported the production by providing technical equipment and personnel support.

“This One Life” is a poetic, visually intense film about alienated work, longing for freedom and the search for genuine connection in a world that is becoming increasingly dehumanised.
