In summer 2019, Iranian filmmaker Javad Karachi edited his new feature film “Live Once” together with editor Michael Noller at the Filmwerkstatt Münster.
Born in Iran, he lives in Oelde. He studied cinematography and directing at the Film & Television Institute of India in Poona in the 1980s and then shot films in India and Iran. He has lived in Germany since 1986, but continues to produce and work in Iran.
Karachi filmed his own screenplay. The love story between a student from Münster and the island Greek Socrates forms the framework for him to explore fundamental philosophical questions.
“Live Once” was filmed in April 2019 on the Greek island of Donoussa in the Cyclades, in Athens and in Gythio on the Peloponnese. Karachi also shot individual scenes in Münster – in spring 2019, he filmed at Prinzipalmarkt and the LWL Museum.
Post-production took place at the Filmwerkstatt Münster. The film celebrated its premiere at filmclub münster in front of a sold-out audience.
The 64-year-old has already made numerous films – many documentaries and also four feature films that have been shown in cinemas or on television in Iran – including a 15-part documentary about the lives of European women in Iran.
