The film by director Sandra Reyes and writer Thomas Empl was made during their residency at LITFILMS 2020.
An old woman wakes up, alone in a white room. She doesn’t know where or who she is. What kind of life is this? As the day progresses, the memories come flooding back: spaces between country and city, day and night, dream and reality, images of hope, escape and fear…
cadáver exquisito, a collaboration between director Sandra Reyes and writer Thomas Empl, was created over a period of three months in Münsterland. The two artists in residence at the litfilms film festival did not take a classic consecutive approach, but worked simultaneously. Reyes filmed and Empl wrote to it, Empl wrote and Reyes filmed what he had written – thus piece by piece a word-image painting was put together, a poetic-experimental film.
