“Die Spökenkiekerin und das Fräulein”

Award winner at the Münster Film Festival in the “Westfalen Connection”, shown at the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation’s Short Film Night and now in the ARD media library!

Following the highly acclaimed series “Haus Kummerveldt”, which can currently be viewed online in the Arte media centre, the team led by director Mark Lorei and producer Lotte Ruf has once again chosen the Münsterland region as the setting for a historical story. Filming for the almost 30-minute feature film took place in summer 2021 with the support of the Münsterland e.V. “Münsterland Castles and Palaces Region” funding project. The film was produced by Goldstoff Filme and co-produced by Filmwerkstatt Münster.

In addition to Haus Marck, the Zwillbrocker Venn in Vreden and Burg Vischering in Lüdinghausen became the film set. “Die Spökenkiekerin und das Fräulein” is based on a short story by Charlotte Krafft, who dedicated herself to the Münsterland three years ago as a regional writer.

Synopsis: In the middle of the 19th century, a clairvoyant throws an entire village into turmoil with her prophecies. The mayor wants to have her chased away – until a lovely young lady comes to her aid with occult powers.

The short film was shown at the open-air cinema at the moated castle Haus Marck in Tecklenburg in August and at the Münster 2023 film festival at the Schlotßtheater in September. There, “Die Spökenkiekerin und das Fräulein Preisträger” was part of the Westfalen Connection.

On 16.11.2023 “Die Spökenkiekerin…” was shown in the Bavarian Broadcasting Corporation’s short film night and has been available here in the ARD media library ever since.
