On Monday 20 April, the filmclub münster presented four short films by GDR artist Gabriele Stötzer. The evening was curated and introduced by Lea Lünenburg. She is interested in society, gender and cinematic representation and has studied the representation of women in DEFA films as part of her Master’s thesis.
Filmmaker and film critic Claus Löser was on hand to talk about the film. In the discussions, he revealed the conditions under which the films were made and the extent to which the state monitored Gabriele Stötzer. She herself even had to spend a year in prison because she spoke out against Wolf Biermann’s expatriation.
