LITERATURE IN FOCUS

This year’s programme combines great cinema with literary discoveries, offers even greater diversity for emerging filmmakers through a new competition category, and provides important impetus for the Westphalia film region with its own industry day.

In the main ‘Literary Adaptation’ competition, six recent feature films are vying for the top prize. The works on show range from classic novellas and contemporary novels to a modern interpretation of a Greek tragedy. This year sees the first ever ‘LIT.shorts’ competition. The “LIT.dok” documentary series takes a look behind the scenes of the world of books. This year’s residents, Aïsha Noomi Stief and Conrad Dreyer, will present their project “14+1 Ways to Deal with Robots”.

Even in the run-up to the festival, the focus was on the intersection of film and literature. In collaboration with Kulturrucksack Münster, Lebenshilfe Münster e.V. and the Münster School of Design, short films with literary references have been produced, which will have their premiere at the festival.
