LITFILMS – Call for Residency

Applications for a residency at the LITFILMS Literature Film Festival Münster 2026 are possible until 15 December 2025!

Call for applications for the 2026 residency programme

The LITFILMS Literatur Film Festival Münster is Germany’s first film festival dedicated to the diverse cinematic adaptations of literary texts.

LITFILMS promotes and demands discourse on the conditions and possibilities of literary films and film literature and offers a platform for artistically ambitious formats in particular.

Period

Three months of attendance between June and September inclusive

Place

Partly in Münster, partly in Münsterland

Remuneration

1,500 € per month plus accommodation and travel expenses as well as a workplace and (by arrangement) a production cost subsidy

Residence programme

One writer and one filmmaker will come together for three months to create a literary-filmic work in an artistic co-operation.

The work does not have to be completed during the residency period, but should at least be presented and discussed as a showcase on a larger scale at the end of the LITFILMS Literatur Film Festival Münster (18 to 27 September 2026).

Residents are given artistic freedom as well as organisational and technical support from the festival and the film workshop for their work(s). They are expected to work on site for a large part of the time, but an exclusive presence on site is not required.

In addition to their own work, there should be a lively exchange with the curatorial planning of the festival so that there is a link between their work and the festival programme (for example in the selection of locations, guests and works). It is desirable that impulses from the residents are included in the festival programme in addition to the exhibition of their own work.

There is no age limit for residents.

You should have completed your training or studies.

Tandem applications are welcome, individual applications are also possible.

The application can be made informally and be summarised in a PDF and include the following content on a maximum of five pages:

– Curriculum vitae
– Artistic profile with publications or filmography
– Cover letter with a brief outline of the project proposal

Please send your application by e-mail only to
info@filmfestival-muenster.de

Submission deadline: 15 December 2025
