Cinema is more than just a place – it is a shared experience, an exchange and a moment of decoupling from everyday life. We want to revitalise this special cultural space, especially in rural areas. With a screen and projector in tow, Filmwerkstatt Münster’s “Kino aufs Land” series made stops at six different locations in Münsterland in 2025, where films are otherwise rarely shown – and film guests were always in tow to talk about the films together.
On three summer evenings, long films were shown in a special atmosphere, in Bunker 11 in Saerbeck, on the Große-Kleimann farm near Steinfurt and in the natural outdoor pool in Lienen. In mid-September, we presented three curated short film evenings with films from the region in cooperation with the Münster 2025 film festival at the Ballenlager in Greven, the Alte Amtmannei in Nottuln and the Kulturwerkstatt in Ostbevern.
For the Münsterland Festival, the mobile cinema is now returning to the big screen at the start of the winter season on 5 November 2025 – and in the special ambience of North Rhine-Westphalia’s smallest cinema: the Alte Brennerei Schwake in Ennigerloh.
There presents the Filmwerkstatt Münster a diverse short film programme. Exclusively selected shorts from Spain meet audience favourites from the short film section of the film festival in Münster – an exciting mix of documentary formats, imaginative animations and impressive short feature films.
You will find the film selection for Schwake here at the end of October.
