The Filmwerkstatt Münster organised a pitching session at the Trafostation as part of the Münster Film Festival in September 2023. Seven film teams and filmmakers were invited to apply for financial support from the Münster Cultural Office for the year 2024. A professional pitching seminar with Karin Sarholz from Cologne took place at Gleis22 at the beginning of September.
Presented were: Rabia Caliskan and Max Wigger presented their film REGEN&KORN, Shadi Tabibzadeh the documentary MY TURBULENT FREEDOM MASHUM, Jakob Bey and Amechi Oji the short film DIE SCHREIE DES SOMMERS, Lioba Schmidt the artistic short film ROTES GEFÜHL, Nina Romming and Thomas Küper the fictional film DISPOSABLE, Philip Sawicki his short film ISS DIE SUPPE and Christiaan Hümbs-Steinbeck his short documentary film DIE BÜCHERHÜTER.
Each team had five minutes to convince the six-member jury of their film project. The jury consisted of Benjamin Leers, Asbirg Naranjo, Kathrin Hartmann, Jan Enste, Lotte Ruf (HAUS KUMMERVELDT) and Claus Herzog-Reichel (Liebe, D-Mark und TOD).
The jury made a recommendation to the Münster Cultural Office as to which films should receive a grant for the production of their short film in the coming year.
LIOBA SCHMIDT (6,000 euros) and Christiaan Hümbs-Steinbeck (4,000 euros) have received funding. The two films will be shot and completed in 2024. A presentation is also planned.
With this pilot project, the Filmwerkstatt Münster and the Münster Cultural Office would like to strengthen young filmmakers in Münster, offer them a platform and thus consolidate artistic film as an art form.
