This year, the European Feature Film Competition is being organised exclusively for debut films for the fourth time. The traditional short film competition, the centrepiece of the festival for more than 40 years, will once again be open to productions from all over Europe. The deadline for both competitions is 1 June 2025.
European First Feature Film Competition
Eight fictional feature films from European productions are invited to take part in the European Feature Film Competition. Films are selected that give new impetus to European cinema and impress with their unusual narrative style or visual language. Young filmmakers are invited to present their first film produced for the cinema in Münster. An international jury will honour the best directorial work (endowed with 5,000 euros).
European Short Film CompetitionForthe fourth time, this competition is being organised for the whole of Europe. All genres, themes and forms of expression are welcome – narrative, documentary, animated, experimental, even music videos – the competition paints a lively picture of the current short film scene in Europe. Both a jury and the audience will select their favourites, which will be awarded with prizes for young talent (endowed with 3,000 euros (jury) and 1,000 euros (audience)).
