The programme slots are:
As part of our annual theme, under the title #grenzenlos, we are screening films that explore experiences of boundaries and the act of crossing them – stories of departure and arrival, of loss, hope and belonging, and of movements between countries, languages and ways of life. In addition, we are presenting works that shed light on filmmaking and life in the GDR, thereby opening up a further perspective on political, social and personal boundaries.
At the same time, we ask: What is possible in cinema that is not (yet) possible in reality? Which images transcend boundaries, and which rewrite history? Which cinematic forms break with conventions – narrative, formal and institutional?
Can we make other realities tangible in cinema, design new futures, and conceive of utopias?
In this instalment of the ‘Filmplädoyer’ series, education manager Milena Täscher, the two artists-in-residence at the LITFILMS Festival, Aïsha Noomi Stief and Conrad Dreyer, the artistic director of the Theater im Pumpenhaus, Till Wyler von Ballmoos, and Eva Wilson, curator of Skulptur Projekte, have each selected a film that is significant to them and will present it with a personal introduction.
Finally, films are screened in the open-air venue as part of the current exhibitions at the Westfälischer Kunstverein and the Kunsthalle Münster, as part of the programme at the Centre for Literature – and, for the 29th year running, as part of the Münster cult film festival ‘Alle Jahre wieder’.
