Are you a young filmmaker with an exciting idea for a film project? But you still lack the financial resources, some exchange and support to start the project?
The Filmwerkstatt Münster offers up-and-coming filmmakers from Münster and the surrounding area the opportunity to receive development funding of up to €1,500.00 for the year 2026.
It doesn’t matter whether it’s a documentary or feature film – whether short or long film. The money can be used for research, script development, test or trailer shoots.

– Letter of motivation (max. 1 A4 page)
– CV with filmography
– Description of the film project (max. 1 A4 page)
– A calculation that clarifies how much (max. € 1,500) and
– what you intend to spend the development grant on.
The projects should be made by you or be thematically located in Münster or the Münsterland region. It doesn’t matter how old you are as a young filmmaker.
The research/project development is to be carried out by September 2026. The film projects and results are to be presented and discussed in a workshop discussion as part of the Litfilms – Literatur Film Festival Münster.
The Filmwerkstatt Münster also endeavours to intensively accompany and support the selected film projects during the research period and beyond, for example by providing film technology and advice as well as free access to seminars. The seminars are usually held in German.
