Filmwerkstatt Münster is looking for two young film teams to go on a documentary journey of discovery in Münsterland and each develop a short documentary film by 2027. You will explore how conflicts arise, are negotiated and shaped in groups – and what these processes reveal about our social coexistence. The focus is on the artistic exploration of areas of tension between cooperation and conflict, inside and outside, and bottom-up and top-down. Conflict is not understood as failure, but as a productive practice, as a space for friction, transformation and a cinematic approach to what divides and at the same time unites people. Filming will take place in Münster and the Münsterland region.
Timetable
The project will kick off with the seminar “Konfliktstoff. Documentary work” with Daniel Abma, which will take place on Saturday, 13 June and Sunday, 14 June 2026 in presence in Münster. The kick-off is planned for the end of June 2026 in Münster and will open the research phase.
In December 2026, you will give insights into your material development process in a workshop discussion. During the course of the project, you will also have the opportunity to take part in other seminars from the Filmwerkstatt Münster programme.
The filming phase will officially begin at the start of 2027. Completion of the films is planned by the end of August 2027. In September 2027, you will show your short films as a work in progress/premiere in our cooperating cinemas in Münsterland.
