Accidentally Cinematic is a film programme with narrative home movies. Home movies are amateur films, made to capture special moments and to be watched with loved ones. Only rarely is there a narrative thread running through them that makes them interesting for a foreign audience. Accidentally Cinematic brings these accidentally cinematic works from the attic to the big screen.
Once a year, on 21 December, a wide variety of locations up and down the country are transformed into temporary cinemas. There, but also in many real cinemas, the short format determines the programme.
KURZFILMTAG was born in France in 2011 as “Le jour le plus court”. It has been held in Germany since 2012 and is coordinated by AG Kurzfilm, the German Short Film Association. KURZFILMTAG has since developed into an internationally significant cultural event, with more than 20 countries taking part.
