Kino aufs Land (engl. Cinema in the countryside) – next stop: Lienen!
A summer evening by the water, an open-air cinema – and all in the middle of nature!
On August 22, 2025, from 8 p.m., the Lienen outdoor pool will be transformed into a special cinema spot right by the poolside. An exciting selection of short films “All About Water” will be shown.
It all kicks off at 5:30 p.m. with the FREUBAD disco swim. From 7:30 p.m., the Münster band CANAPE will play funky, melodic neo-soul, before the short film program begins at 9 p.m. Six extraordinary short films will be shown, each exploring water in a variety of ways as a backdrop, element, or mirror of human experience.
One of the films included is “Ten Meter Tower” (Sweden, 2016), a socio-psychological observation piece set on a 10-meter diving board. Directors Axel Danielson and Maximilien van Aertryck impressively capture what goes on inside us in moments of hesitation – a fascinating look at courage and fear.
In “Die Waschmaschine”, engl. “The Washing Machine” (Austria, 2020), a simple household chore escalates into a darkly humorous reckoning with everyday racism and relationship dynamics – pointed, absurd, and highly topical.
Particularly impressive: “Seepferdchen”, engl. “Seahorse” (Germany, 2020) – the story of a refugee woman who learns to swim after crossing the sea. The award-winning documentary combines silent images with a powerful voice.
Other films include a poetic animated film about friendship on the high seas, a powerful essay film about the lack of water in the forests of the Harz Mountains, and a satirical miniature about “Peter’s Principle.”
Together with RESET e.V. and the FREUBAD series, we invite you to an evening that will resonate long after the film is over, as well as atmospherically. Admission is €9, concessions €7 (plus advance booking fee). Tickets are available online at localTicketing and at the box office.
Bring blankets, a picnic, curiosity, and swimwear!
