Sunday, 23.04.2023, 20:00 at the Schloßtheater Münster
To mark its fortieth anniversary, the Filmbüro NW is showing films from its archives at their places of origin throughout the state. On 23 April 2023, a selection of short films made at the Filmwerkstatt Münster or filmed by its members will be shown at the Schloßtheater, highlighting topics and places from Münster in a variety of ways. In particular, productions from the early history of the Filmwerkstatt will also be shown.
The following films will be shown in the Schloßtheater:
End (1986), 12 min, Breuersbrock/Dresler/Fietzke
The “Residenz” was one of the most important premiere cinemas in Münster at the beginning of Hammer Straße. “Ende” shows the last hours of this cinema, which, shortly before its demolition, once again experienced the staged splendour of former film culture. “Ende” screened in the 1986 Berlinale short film competition and marked the beginning of the three filmmakers’ successful collaboration.
Ricochet (1995), 13 min, feature film, Dieter Oelrich
Fictional short film about a man and his pig. Created as the first project with seminar participants as part of the “Filmschule im Pumpenhaus”, which was founded at the time.
The Heaven of Heroes (1987), 15 min, Robert Bramkamp
While the “real” former astronaut James Irving preaches at a Christian missionary event in Bielefeld, daringly linking the love of Christ with the benefits of German space technology, a “fake” astronaut dances exuberantly high up on a studio moon and embraces his Soviet cosmonaut bride. “The film tells such a materialistic story about metaphysics, showing cleverly and cheerfully how politics and love belong together … ” (Georg Seeßlen)
Now or never (1997/98), 13 min, feature film, Miron Zownir
During a chaotic robbery at a cinema in Münster, Elvis, one of the three gangsters, is left with a bullet in his stomach. An egotistical and deceitful battle for power and money ensues between his accomplices Siggi and Pudding. “Now or Never” was realised by a German-Dutch team as part of the project “dialoog cultuur – NL in NRW” by the Filmwerkstatt Münster.
Wild Card (a surprise film from a more recent production)!
