Filming for the co-production by Antimae Film and Filmwerkstatt Münster started in Münster & Sendenhorst at the beginning of August 2025.
Lutz Mommartz, who died at the end of July, and the first generation of students at the Kunstakademie Münster laid the foundations in 1981 for today’s Filmwerkstatt.
This summer, the Filmwerkstatt will once again be traveling through Münsterland with a screen, projector and selected film program. The dates have already been set!

The multi-day film screening of The Pittsburgh Trilogy (1983) by Peggy Ahwesh (14 to 18 May 2025) will be complemented by contributions from students in Prof. Andreas Köpnick’s Film, Video and New Media class (Kunstakademie Münster).
In 2025, Filmwerkstatt Münster is once again supporting four film projects by up-and-coming filmmakers from the region that are currently in development. The jury consisted of Jan-Christoph Tonig’s Leijla Aliev and Asbirg Naranjo as well as the managing directors of Filmwerkstatt Münster Anna Schlottbohm and Steffi Köhler.
The Cinema Ost film festival successfully entered its third round! Under the motto Shades of the Past, they presented five selected films as well as a reading with the Ukrainian filmmaker and author Iryna Tsilyk.
The 21st edition of the Münster Film Festival will take place from 19 to 28 September 2025 at the Schloßtheater Münster. Submissions for the two central competitions are now open.
