The film festival Cinema Ost. Eastern Europe in the Mirror of Film is now in its fourth round. They have established themselves as a successful cultural project in Münster.
The programme for the first half of 2026 once again offers a diverse mix full of cinematic art and surprising (re)discoveries.
The first full-length feature film by Filmwerkstatt member Robert Bramkamp from 1987 was shown as part of “Giving the country its images” – an event organised by Filmbüro NW and filmclub münster.

The multi-day film screening of The Pittsburgh Trilogy (1983) by Peggy Ahwesh (14 to 18 May 2025) will be complemented by contributions from students in Prof. Andreas Köpnick’s Film, Video and New Media class (Kunstakademie Münster).
The Cinema Ost film festival successfully entered its third round! Under the motto Shades of the Past, they presented five selected films as well as a reading with the Ukrainian filmmaker and author Iryna Tsilyk.
The filmclub münster starts 2025 with a programme full of new and rediscovered films. The screenings usually take place in the Schloßtheater at 8 pm and are shown in the original version, with subtitles if necessary. On Mon 10 Feb, director Benjamin Quabeck comes to NICHTS BEREUEN!

An obituary in the issue of the magazine “Graswurzelrevolution” No. 490 remembers the director Peter Lilienthal, who died in Munich in April 2023 at the age of 95.
