With consistently favourable participation fees, the Filmwerkstatt Münster aims to enable independent filmmakers and up-and-coming filmmakers to continue their education at a high level.
In addition, further vocational training in Germany is subsidised in a variety of ways. Stiftung Warentest’s guide to further training provides a good overview. For initial orientation, we have also summarised some possible financial aids below.
Reduced participation fee for low-income earners
Students, school pupils, pensioners, the unemployed and many others pay a reduced price.
Member discount of the Filmgruppe Münster e.V.
Members of the Filmgruppe Münster receive a 15% discount on the basic price. Membership is obtained by submitting an informal application to the management and a direct debit authorisation for the membership fee. After attending two seminars, the whole thing pays for itself and you have already paid off the membership fee. Members also receive a discount on equipment hire.
North Rhine-Westphalia education cheque
The state of North Rhine-Westphalia uses the education cheque to support employees and, under certain conditions, start-ups and people returning to work. It covers 50%, up to a maximum of €500, of the costs of further training measures that impart specialist skills or key qualifications. The education voucher can be applied for every two years after an interview at a state counselling centre. Here too, it is advisable to make an appointment in good time.

Education premium
Attention! The “Bildungspämie” programme expired on 31.12.2021. We hope that the new government will institutionalise a similar funding system, but there is no current information on this yet.

Further training scholarship
The further training grant supports young people under the age of 25 who have successfully completed a vocational training programme to gain further professional qualifications. Unemployed and self-employed people are also supported. Scholarship holders receive up to €2400 per year for three years to finance the costs associated with further training. Depending on the training programme, applications can be submitted to the chambers of trade, industry and commerce or directly to the Stiftung Begabtenförderung berufliche Bildung.

WeGebAU
With the WeGebAU programme, the Federal Employment Agency supports employees in small and medium-sized companies as well as employees who do not have a vocational qualification or have not worked in their learned profession for more than four years. Costs for external further training are covered in full or in part. The contact person is the local employment agency.
